Privacy Policy

HILYT (“HILYT,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at hilyt.meand the HILYT mobile application (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address and, depending on the role you select (player, coach, fan), profile details such as your name, school, graduation year, positions, height, weight, athletic metrics, and a profile photo.
  • Content you upload. Highlight videos, thumbnails, titles, tags, and any text you add (comments, captions, feedback).
  • Activity data. Votes, comments, follows, bookmarks, reports, and other interactions you take on the Service.
  • Device and usage data. IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, pages viewed, and approximate location (country, region, and city) derived from your IP address.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use first-party cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and operate your account and personalize your experience.
  • To host, transcode, and stream the videos you upload.
  • To rank and display content in feeds, search results, and player profiles.
  • To enable communication between players, coaches, and fans on the Service.
  • To monitor and improve the Service, debug issues, and prevent abuse.
  • To respond to support requests and send service-related notifications.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:

  • Publicly on the Service. Profile information, uploaded videos, votes, and comments are visible to other users of the Service. Do not upload anything you do not want to be public.
  • Service providers. We use trusted third parties to run HILYT, including:
    • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
    • Cloudflare Stream — video transcoding and delivery.
    • Vercel — hosting and content delivery.
    • Google — OAuth sign-in (only if you choose Google sign-in).
    These providers process data on our behalf under contractual privacy obligations.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of HILYT, our users, or the public.

4. Children’s Privacy

HILYT is intended for high school athletes and the people who follow them. The Service is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use the Service or provide any information about yourself. If you are between 13 and 18, we require verifiable parental or guardian consent before you create a player profile, and we collect the consenting adult’s full name and the date consent was given. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information without your consent, please contact us at support@hilyt.me and we will delete the information.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or legitimate business reasons.

6. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and update. You can view and update most of your profile information from your account settings.
  • Delete your content. You can delete videos, comments, and your account at any time.
  • Request a copy or deletion. Email support@hilyt.me to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to request deletion.
  • Opt out of email. You can unsubscribe from non-essential email at any time using the link in those messages.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and row-level security on our database. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

8. International Users

HILYT is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
